This process involves transcribing specific RNA sequences into cDNA and amplifying them through thermal cycling, with results monitored via sequence-specific fluorescent probes. RT-PCR is the most suitable choice for validating the health of high-value mother plants, confirming results of initial screenings, or ensuring detection in plants that may be in the very earliest stages of infection where viroid loads are minimal.
